DTW Challenge:
The objective is to remove dangerous obsolete ammunitions and small arms from within or near civilian areas into purpose-built controlled units. Working with technical experts from the Integrated Project on Small Arms Control and Improved Safe Storage of Ammunition and Explosive (ISSAC), we used our experience of designing and fabricating workshops and offices for humanitarian landmine clearance to good effect. We are currently in the process of designing and modifying a standard ISO 20-foot shipping container. Our intent is to make the containers fully compatible with munitions safe storage regulations.

GTZ is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GTZ promotes complex reforms and change processes. Its corporate objective is to improve people’s living conditions on a sustainable basis. This project is also involves working with the Royal Government of Cambodia Armed Forces.

Status:
On-going.  The design and prototyping of the first container is underway. We are expecting to complete the first units in May 2008.
