Magnets

The Large Magnet attachment is designed to be used after the Flail or Slasher. This is particularly useful in areas of extremely high fragmentation and will reduce the numbers of spurious contacts, increasing mine clearance productivity.
As with the small magnet attachment, the permanent magnet array is separated from the metal fragments by a stainless steel shroud which can be remotely opened to safely remove dangerous items.

The Small Magnet attachment is used in conjunction with the Flail during vegetation cutting.
It is designed to pick up fragments of ferrous metals in the minefield and thus reduce the number of spurious metal detector responses.
The Small Magnet is attached to the rear of the Quick-hitch adaptor plate for the flail and is in light contact with the ground.
The permanent magnets are contained within a non-magnetic stainless steel shroud or outer cover. The unit has a hydraulic supply which facilitates opening and closing of the shroud via two hydraulic rams situated at each end of the unit. Opening of the shroud removes the magnetic force from the fragments of metal causing them to be released from the unit.
