DTW Challenge:
Establish a training programme to produce skilled personnel to carry out low-cost repair and maintenance of bio-medical equipment and instruments needed by hospitals and clinics in the Phnom Penh area.
Result:
DTW set up MediTech. Its trained staff were able to repair basic hospital equipment. The service primarily dealt with X-ray machines, ECGs, sterilizers. MediTech also offered professional sharpening of surgical instruments as an ancillary service.
The services were offered to all hospitals and clinics in Phnom Penh (whether private or government-run). MediTech worked in partnership with bio-medical repair experts and equipment manufacturers all over the world to provide a complete range of product technical support and engineering backup facilities. The ultimate beneficiaries were the Cambodian patients who were treated as a result of the equipment being in first-class, usable condition.
