Performance
The Tempest was originally designed specifically as a vegetation cutting device, to clear down to 25mm above the ground surface. An alternative flail head has since been developed. The ground engaging flail (GEF) is designed to dig into the soil in order to destroy or expose mines.

The original GEF specification was for a clearance depth of 50mm. However, DTW has now designed the GEF so clear down to 100-150mm into the soil. The Tempest can clear even deeper if its forward speed is reduced.
