In April 2005, the Tempest Mark 5 was tested by QinetiQ, a leading UK-based defence and security technology company.  During the trial the standard vegetation flail head, the slasher and the large magnet were assessed.  QinetiQ reported: “The machine has the ability to clear both mines and vegetation.”
